50th Anniversary of The Battle of Long Tan Celebrated on $5 Australian Coin

The Australian mint issued special commemorative coins to celebrate 50 years of the battle of Long Tan when brave soldiers left the Nui Dat taskforce base on 18th August 1966 without even carrying a pinch of fear in their hearts.During the third anniversary of the battle, a cross was erected in the Long Tan rubber plantation. 1880 Austrian Medal Made from Melted Ancient Coins

In 1880, the 10th anniversary of the Austrian Numismatic Society was celebrated with the release of commemorative medals struck on metal made by melting ancient bronze coins.The obverse of the medal, designed by Anton Scharff depicts Austrian Jesuit priest and numismatist, Joseph Hilarius Eckhel.The reverse features an inscription that marks the 10th anniversary; an Athens-style owl, olive branches and a text that translates to “melted ancient coins provided the bronze.”

Stamp that Travelled Billions of Miles

An American stamp travelled almost 3 billion miles in space is now a world record holding stamp. A 29 cent US stamp of 1991 has now entered the Guinness Book of World Record as a stamp that travelled the farthest distance and went to Pluto.n 1991 USA issued stamp with a tagline Pluto – "Not yet explored". This stamp was affixed on NASA's New Horizons robotic probe which set out on a new mission of exploring the mysterious planet.
